Dresden's single-person boom is no longer happening in the Neustadt — but in Laubegast
Since 2014, Dresden has added a net 16,786 households — and mathematically each of them is home to just one person. 53.7 percent of all households are now one-person households. The increase is happening in ageing edge-of-city areas such as Laubegast, while the classic single districts are declining slightly.
Dresden's population growth ends: 2,138 fewer residents in 2025
Dresden lost around 2,138 residents in 2025 — the sharpest decline since the analysed data series began in 2014. Only 3,882 children were born, 39.6 percent fewer than in 2016. In-migration had offset the growing birth deficit for three years; in 2025 that offset failed to appear.
Dresden land values 2002–2026: Leipziger Vorstadt up sixfold while outer districts merely doubled
Long-term analysis of Dresden's official standard land values: residential land in Leipziger Vorstadt rose from €150 to €955/m² since 2002 (×6.4), the citywide median is ×2.5 — Gorbitz-Süd and Weißig barely doubled.
